This weekend is the last weekend of the year to take a stroll through the Overland Park Arboretum & Botanical Gardens’ Holiday Luminary Walk. All proceeds from ticket sales to the walk benefit the Overland Park Arboretum & Botanical Gardens. You and your family can walk along candlelit trails through the woods and gardens of the Arboretum. There have been three weekends of this event since Thanksgiving, and this weekend, December 8th and 9th is the last chance to see it. Over a mile of pathways will be illuminated with thousands of candles, while holiday lights are beautifully strewn across trees, bridges, and buildings. This is the 18th year for the event, and it has become quite a local tradition for families to kick off the holiday season. The Luminary Walk includes Gnome and Fairy Villages, a Children’s Garden for the kids to explore, and visits and photos with Santa Claus. Grown-ups can appreciate the beauty and nostalgia of the lights and decor. The entire family can enjoy hot cider around the campfire followed by a horse-drawn wagon ride. Holiday music can be heard throughout the gardens to really sink in those holiday feelings. The event also features live musical entertainment.
