Do you have embarrassing teeth stains on your smile? Don’t hide your smile, seek cosmetic treatment with our team! In today’s blog, your Olathe, KS, dentist talks about three different Opalescence options to brighten smiles by several shades, often from the comfort of your own home!
Your Teeth Stains
Teeth stains can form on our smiles for a number of different reasons. For example, eating foods high in starch, and consuming foods and drinks high in sugar, will leave particles behind on and between your teeth. As bacteria consume them, this creates plaque buildup that makes discoloration more visible. Lack of proper brushing and flossing, and infrequent visits for cleanings could also contribute to discoloration too. Drinks with dark pigments, such as red wine, coffee, soda, and tea, could be factors as well. Smoking cigarettes and using other tobacco products could be a cause too. As part of your treatment, we will assess the cause and extent of your teeth stains and then choose the perfect treatment option to remove them.
Opalescence Options
We have three different Opalescence options to brighten your smile. First, we have Boost, an in-office treatment that brightens smiles by several shades in about an hour. We will apply a bleaching gel to your teeth and use a chemical process instead of a hot light to break up and remove stains.
We also have an at-home option too. You first visit the office so we can take an impression and create a custom set of plastic trays. We send the trays home with you, along with syringes of the bleaching gel. You fill the trays with gel and wear them for a set amount of time each day, over a period of one to two weeks. Teeth could be eight shades brighter, and the trays come in flavors like mint or melon.
There is even an option you can take on the go. With Go, we send you home with a set of pre-filled trays that are disposable, with the gel inside flavored inn mint or melon. These shape to your teeth and provide quality results, with a noticeably brighter smile and more dramatic results than store bought trays or strips.
Masking Permanent Discoloration
If you have intrinsic stains, which form beneath the enamel and may not respond well to whitening treatments, we can still help! Our team will mask these with dental bonding or porcelain veneers.
