Memorial Day and 4th of July for 2018 are finished. Now we have the rest of the summer left before we hit another holiday. This long stretch of time can feel a little boring, but have no fear, there are still plenty of fun things to do in and around Olathe, Kansas. Do you know what else the summertime is great for? Visiting the dentist. Exams and cleanings are easy to schedule when there is less going on in your life. With school out and vacations abound, make time to keep your smile healthy.
Fun Things To Do
- For the first time ever, The Coterie and the White Theatre at The J join up to present Kansas City’s first locally-produced production of a Broadway hit. Disney’s Newsies is set in New York City in the early 1900s. The main character, Jack Kelly, is a charismatic newsboy and leader of the ‘newsies,’ but he has high aspirations for a better life. The show is appropriate for all ages with tickets available online.
- For its first year of doing this, Summit Fair is presenting First Friday Movie Series, which feature an outdoor film experience the first Friday of every month. Each month features a different movie and the movie featured in July is Grease. Kids under the age of 12 will get one FREE (small) shaved ice of any flavor from our visiting food truck, Kona Ice. There will also be live entertainment for children including face painting. The event starts at 7:30pm every Friday.
- Animal Clues at the Ernie Miller Nature Center is an interesting event for hiking in the park and investigating different animal clues. The event costs $3 per person and children two and under can attend for free.
