Schedule Your Checkup and Cleaning Soon

November 4, 2020

Halloween is past, which means Thanksgiving and the busy holiday season will be here before you know it. Before the season becomes too hectic, we suggest scheduling a checkup and cleaning, so you can greet 2021 with a strong and health smile. All of that starts with a checkup from your Olathe, KS, general dentists.

The Exam

The visit will start with a dental exam. Using digital technology, we will take a very close look at your smile to identify the presence of decay, or even the very early stages of demineralization before a cavity forms. We will also look for warning signs of gingivitis and gum disease, as well as TMJ disorder and bruxism. The earlier we identify these concerns, the sooner we treat them and protect your smile from worsening symptoms or the loss of your teeth.

Screenings

We also take time to screen you smile for oral cancer once a year. Oral cancer has a very high mortality rate, with half of those diagnosed succumb to the disease in just five years. However, this high rate is related to the fact that the disease is rarely caught in the early stages. But with an annual screening, you increase the likelihood of an early diagnosis and a recovery!

Cleaning Your Smile

The visit will also involve cleaning your teeth, which means we take time to thoroughly remove all plaque and tartar from the surfaces of your teeth with an ultrasonic scaling device and a manual tool. Removing plaque not only fights bad breath and teeth stains, but lowers the risk of issues like tooth decay and gum disease. When you return home, be sure to brush and floss daily, as this helps control how much plaque can accumulate until we can see you for your next cleaning visit!

Use Your Benefits!

As the end of the year approaches, your dental insurance benefits will soon run out, and your health savings account funds could also expire. When you schedule a checkup and cleaning, you can use your benefits, and undergo any necessary treatments, such as fillings or crowns, to ensure you start 2021 with your healthiest smile. If you have any questions about our preventive visits, or about using your dental insurance benefits, then contact our team today. We would be happy to discuss your benefits and treatment options to help you obtain a smile that makes you proud!
