From egg hunts to a chance to see how people lived and celebrated in the 1860s, Olathe, KS, will feature a number of fun events. Community Events
- Easter Egg Plunge: Don’t just hunt for Easter eggs, dive for them! The Easter egg plunge takes place at the Olathe Community Center on 1205 East Kansas City Road on April 20th from 6:30pm until 7:45pm. You can dive for eggs in three community pools. Admission for the event is $10 for city residents, and $15 for everyone else.
- Easter 1860s Style: You can enjoy Easter 1860s style at Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop and Farm on 1200 East Kansas City Road. The event will take place on April 20th from 10am until 4pm. You and your family can sample a hot cross bun from a cookstove, find out about Oschter Haws, the original Easter bunny, and visit the blacksmith. You can also explore the Mahaffie house and ride in a stagecoach. Admission, which includes all events, is $7 for adults, $5 for kids ages 5 to 11, and kids 4 and under are free. If you’re a resident, admission is $5.
- Celebrate Olathe: Let’s Celebrate Olathe on April 19th from 5:30pm until 7:30pm at the Community Center, located on 1201 East Kansas City Road. The event is free and open to the entire family. There will be egg hunts, a visit from Joey the Bunny, and activities for people of all ages.
- Backyard Chickens: Today, you can enjoy Backyard Chickens at the Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop and Farm on 1200 East Kansas City Road. You can learn how to raise and care for chickens in your own backyard so you can enjoy fresh eggs and happy birds.
