Snow in July and Other Fun

July 12, 2018

Summer is going by so quickly. Before we know it, autumn will be here and the air will feel a little bit crisper. Until then, the sunshine is out and the warmth is around us for summer. There are lots of fun activities to do with the family while the kids are out of school. Each weekend is filled with opportunities for bonding and fun; this weekend is no different. E-Care Dentistry in Olathe, Kansas is very proud to be a part of this wonderful community and serve the smiles of the families that live here.

Fun This Weekend

  1. The Kansas City Zoo is hosting Snow Zoo this weekend on Saturday, July 14th and Sunday, July 15th. The zoo’s polar bears, Berlin and BamBam, will get a refreshing cool down when zookeepers dump two tons of ice into the Polar Bear Passage. The ice dump will happen at 11:30 a.m. Other animals will get to enjoy the cool down, too. The river otters get to play with a custom-made carved ice sculpture created just for them. Many other animals will also get refreshing icy treats to enjoy. Throughout the day, there will be a snowman and ice princess for you to see, along with plenty of chats with zookeepers.
  2. The Overland Park Arboretum and Botanical Gardens is hosting GeoKids on July 12th. The event is a super fun activity that consists of a brief classroom presentation on using maps, following directions and using a compass. After the lesson, the kids will go out into our learning Arboretum for a treasure hunt for prizes with plenty of learning along the way. The event is designed for kids ages 7 through 11. Advanced registration online is required to participate.
  3. On July 12th, Mahaffie Farms in Olathe presents Family Fun Nights: Cowboys. The event is free with cowboy demonstrations on cooking and roping.
