Snow-Themed Community Events

January 4, 2018

Winter can be interesting when the holiday events are over. There are still a few months left of cold and snow in the area before Spring comes back, but the songs about snowmen went away with Christmas. In the cities around Olathe, KS, there are plenty of events revolving around snow that you and your family can enjoy. We have even included a few ideas for when you are not afraid of cabin fever and just want to stay indoors where it is warm. E-Care dentistry is proud to serve Olathe, KS, and the surrounding communities.

Snow-Themed Events

  1. Ceramic Cafe (9510 Nall, Overland Park, KS) will be hosting a “Winter Wonderland” during the week of January 15th-21st. There will be a Creative Story Time at 10:30 a.m. on January 16th and 19th that features The Biggest Snowman Ever. The kids will be able to paint a snowman bowl. The shop will be offering classes during the week for things like glass fusing, pottery painting, and clay creations. Check their calendar for times to make a footprint snowman with little ones.
  2. The Thirsty Palette(11958 Roe Ave., Overland Park, KS, 913.669.0501) is offering classes on a variety of winter scenes. Teachers are there to guide you and offer step-by-step instructions as you paint your own masterpiece.
  3. Paint, Glaze & Fire(12683 Metcalf, Overland Park) is a paint-your-own pottery studio that allows you to select a piece (many snowmen pieces to pick from) to paint. Special events will include Paint Me a Story on Jan. 5th with the story Sneezy the Snowman and Jan. 19th with Snowmen at Night. Children will get to enjoy hot chocolate with animal crackers as a special treat.
  4. Snowman Trail at George Owens Nature Park (1601 S. Speck Rd., Independence, MO) is a winter walk full of whimsy. Local citizens created 4-foot-tall snowmen for the annual winter solstice in December, and they are on display along the trail through the entire month of January.
  5. Snow Creek Ski Resort in Weston, KS, offers snow skiing, snowboarding and snow tubing, along with lessons for beginners.
